Es Baluard, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Palma, was once again the venue for the highly anticipated Nit de l’Oli 2025, a must-attend event organized by the Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin Oli de Mallorca, aimed at highlighting the value of high-quality Extra Virgin Olive Oils produced on the island.
Among the eleven producers, Finca Sa Cadernera presented its own extra virgin olive oils, showcasing to the public its commitment to tradition, sustainability, and excellence. A perfect opportunity to connect directly with consumers, industry professionals, and lovers of fine olive oil.
Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed a unique sensory experience through tastings and pairings with tapas, sampling various oil references that reflected the rich diversity and abundance of Mallorca’s olive-growing landscape.
The event was attended by prominent authorities such as the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, Joan Simonet; the Director General of Food Quality and Local Products, Joan Llabrés; the Director of Local Development, Juan Antonio Esteban; and the Palma City Councilor for Commerce, Hospitality and Self-Employment, Guadalupe Ferrer.
In his speech, the president of the Regulatory Council, Joan Mayol, emphasized the challenges of the current campaign due to the sharp drop in production, but also paid tribute to the collective effort of the sector: “Here you have the result of the dedication of thousands of people: those who prune, till, irrigate, bottle, and distribute. A whole army needed to maintain the olive groves and continue producing the oil that nourishes us all each year.”
Mayol also shared a heartfelt message with consumers: “Every time you eat bread with oil, buy or recommend Mallorca oil, you are saving an olive tree—the most emblematic and symbolic tree of our islands. What a delicious way to contribute to the preservation of Mallorca’s landscape and environment.”
The evening also offered the opportunity to taste other high-quality products from the Balearic Islands, thanks to the collaboration of D.O. Binissalem, D.O. Pla i Llevant, D.O. Maó-Menorca, D.O.P. Oliva de Mallorca, I.G.P. Sobrassada de Mallorca, I.G.P. Ametlla de Mallorca, and I.G.P. Vi de Mallorca.
Mallorcan olive oil with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) is sold packaged and securely sealed with a guarantee seal from the Regulatory Council. Each producer’s label includes the official registration number of the designation of origin.
